Our pilot Will holding door facing steps
This morning looked promising for a flight around Mt. McKinley so I had coffee, got ready, and left for the Talkeetna Air Taxi office at 07:35AM.
I could see the mountain when I left the RV Park and hoped I could change my 14:00PM flight to one at 08:30AM. Luckily, they said they had an opening.
We departed on an "Otter" plane at 08:30AM. I was lucky and got the co-pilot seat and the views were just spectacular. Our pilot Will was great. No turbulence. We flew around the mountain and saw it from all sides. We then landed at Don Sheldon Amphitheater on the glacier at approximately 5,500 feet. When we came to a stop Mt. McKinley was directly in front of us. We spent about 20 minutes on the glacier. What an experience and the views were just unbelievable. We returned at 10:25AM. That is a flight no one should miss.
Picture 103 is looking straight down from the plane. The terrain was flat but I could not find the four climbers with their sleds in my viewfinder. You can just see two of them at the very top of the picture.
In the afternoon I went out to the city park on the Talkeetna River for a short walk with my dog and then back to the RV.
I have not seen any wildlife since my tour of Denali National Park on July 5.
