Duman Kasapligil Trip Of A Lifetime travel blog

After many phone calls to relatives, we arranged a brief trip out to the farm on Wampanoag Trail, where my mom grew up. The trip from Westborough took only a little over an hour from Cambridge, where we spent the morning touring the small museum at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and walking along Commonwealth Avenue to Harvard Square (Jill and Cosmo).

Sadly, mom's farm was not very tour-able. Parts of the property had become overgrown and the picturesque barn had fallen down, but I think the boys got a gist of what rural Barrington looks like. We got a chance to see the street where my mom spent her early years and even the building where she went to high school. We were also able to greet my mom's brother Bob, and her sister Marion, who looked a great deal more like Mom than I remembered. Bob treated us to dinner at the Clam Shack, a folksy local eatery on the water in Warren, Rhode Island. After dinner, we were joined by my cousin Heather and her family. The cousins had an ice cream cone together and we headed back to Westborough to fall in a heap into beds at Judy's house.
