Kingma Summer 2012 RV trip down east travel blog

I (mom) did some last minute shopping in the morning leaving Oma and Jer home to get things ready for our trip across to Prince Edward Island. We were originally leaving tomorrow for the island but Oma thought we should leave a day earlier due to high volume of people at the Cavendish Beach festival as well as another blue grass festival.

We arrived at the ferry dock just in time to see the 1pm ferry pull away. We waited in a lineup of many rv's and fifth wheels.

Jer, Oma, Cadence and Leland headed out to the dock to take in some sights. They saw fishing trollers and a guy pulling his lobster catch out of the water. The kids got to see the elastics on the lobster claws. Even though they were told it was safe becuase of the elastics they were still scared of the funny red creatures.

Oma grabbed a tea and the group headed back to the RV.

We managed to get on the 4:30pm ferry. It was very overcast, rainy and grey but still a good experience for our family.

The kids enjoyed Cows ice cream and looking at the black jelly fish over the side of the boat.

Once on the island we stopped in to visit my sister Danielle at work. Then we were off to her house to make the kids supper. After eating we left Oma at Danielle's and headed off to our campsite for the night, Linkletter.

The drive to Linkletter was rather terrifying for Mom. The route took us through what felt like backroads to us. It contained very steep hills and was very dark outside. THe rain and empty fuel tank did not help. Nor did the lack of knowledge of local roads.

We made it however and even managed to get gas along the way.

We arrived at the campsite around 10:30pm. Thankfully the campsite accepted check in throughout the night. The friendly lady at the desk even helped guide us via cell phone down some dark road to get to the campsite.

That was our first taste of how very friendly people on the Island are.
