Hola, I bet you thought that we had fallen off of the face of the earth..not so. This cruising season was far from being exciting. After having a haul out on the first of March we still had to hang here, we had a recall on a piece on our mast. We choose to wait in Mazatlan until the part was shipped from the States and installed. The company strongly suggested not to go sailing as the mast would have fallen down if the part failed. So we waited and waited!!!!!!!One of our batteries failed so we waited some more for a new one to come from the states, Finally on March 29th we made good our escape. It was wonderful to be out on the water again. The first hop out of here always involves an overnight trip to the next good anchorage. Several hours out our large chart plotter crashed..for you land lubbers the chart plotter is the machine with all our navigation and chart showing us where to go. Rene had to remove the smaller plotter from the nav table down stairs and install it where the large one was. Well enough said about that but it certainly put a damper on thing . oh the joy of boating. We arrived in Ensenada De Mantanchan 24 hours later after a beautiful night sail under a full moon. The dolphins visited us several times in the night some staying along side for a good hour. Mantanchan is a large shallow bay and is usually a great place to spend time..however the weather gods were on Easter break I guess. The swell made for an uncomfortable time and after 2 nights we moved on. Bahia de Jaltemba 29 miles farther was our next stop. Being Easter weekend this small beach town was hopping. Families packed the beach swimming, snorkeling, boogie boarding, fishing and jet skiing. One of the highlights of our visit was watching the kids they were having a ball. Rene enjoyed a skewer of fresh barbecued shrimp sold everywhere from beach vendors a must when you visit this beautiful beach side town. Punta De Mita was a nice stop over before we headed south to LaCruz. We enjoyed a lovely lunch beach side with a beautiful view of Babeeze anchored in the bay. The next morning on the way to LaCruz we caught supper. A full moon party and bonfire our first night was a great welcome and time to see fiends and catch up on news. The wedding of our friends kathy and Robert was a blast. Nine of us traveled 15 miles across the bay in a panga to a cool place called Yelapa. What a unique and serene experience.Surrounded entirely by rugged mountains there are no roads into this tiny community. The hotel had a thatched roof with no ends so the bats, humming birds and possums traveled across the roof beams at night. Built on the natural rocks of the area our shower had a bolder right in the wall we had to dance around in order to get wet.The wedding was beautiful..on the beach at sunset. The rest of the month was spent enjoying friends, great music and LaCruz yearly festival. May 4th we returned to Mazatlan Yeah !!! It is hot hot hot here....32 everyday, the pool is a must. Spending time with friends and meeting new people is such a big part of this life style we now enjoy. Monday the 9 of July we will head to Canada to escape the heat for a while. Lets hope that the hurricanes leave us alone. Hope you are all well, love Rene and Eva
