15Th December MELBOURNE TO ADELAIDE
We travel by the Overland train of Great Southern Rail to Adelaide to be met there by Helen. We left at 08.05hrs and arrived in Adelaide at 17.45hrs 15 mins ahead of schedule. The journey was very similar to our train ride from Sydney to Melbourne travelling through a vast plain largely occupied by wheat fields and sheep and cattle. However the scenery changed dramatically as we approached Adelaide. The approach is through the Adelaide Hills by way of Mt.Lofty and Bel Air. The hills are quite forested with a variety of trees and interspersed with quality housing.
We will be staying with my daughter Helen and my 3 grandchildren - Jack, Abigail and Georgina
Their House in situated in an Adelaide suburb called Aberfoyle Park which is about 20K from central Adelaide. It is very rural and situated in a nice residential
area. It is surrounded by trees many of which are Eucalyptus.
In the early mornings the area seems to be invaded by screeming parrots the most common of which is the Galah and the Rainbow Lorikeet, both very colourful birds but also the Yellow Crested Cockatoo.
Posts to this journal will diminish during our stay with Helen and only any event of general interested will be published.
In the mean time we wish all our readers A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR 2013
