The arch Jerry actually climbed!

Hi to everyone,

The adventures continue!

If Bryce Canyon wasn't magnificent enough, we were treated to more gorgeous sights during our drive to Moab, Utah. Southern Utah is absolutely gorgeous, at every hill and curve a new vista or sight waited us. Pictures do not do justice. It's like being in a post card.

We spent a whole day in Arches National Park sightseeing and of course, more hiking. The good news is there was no canyon, to hike into... The bad news is it is desert terrain and at one point the temperature got up to 106. Hot when the only shade is a very small tree here and there along with the arches. One of our longest hikes was to Broken Arch. On our way there some of the hikers coming back said a "must do" was to climb on top of the arch. Of course these were guys, and of course Jerry decided it would be a cool thing to do. Sandi being a "height wimp" stayed below to take pictures. Glad she did because J looked like a little person from below.

Today we are visiting a local winery (Sandi says "yeah!), and tomorrow we head for Mesa Verde and some time in Colorado. We both agree we are looking forward to some cooler mountain temperatures coming up in our trip soon.

Addendum to Moab visit:

The road trip to Castle Valley winery was absolutely beautiful! The road followed the Colorado River through a canyon and the scenery was incredible. All of a sudden we came upon a small valley and there was the beautiful winery! On the way, we passed two old time locomotives on two huge trucks. They were so big the local police were escorting them through the narrow canyon. We later learned the locomotives were props for a new movie they are filming... the Lone Ranger... Starring Will Smith and Johonny Depp. Evidently the Moab area is utilized quite often for movie sets.
