forest fire near the ranch

Hovenweep

We were able to leave early Sat am to get to Hovenweep and do a 2 mile walk in the desert along the canyon rim trail. It was pretty hot by the time we were done, high 90's. Pretty amazing to view these ruins, where you can view the tall towers and outlines of multi-room room pueblos and small cliff dwellings. Because of the remoteness of this area, there are few visitors. This makes for a quiet and peaceful walk through the ruins. On the way home we saw the forest fire that is only 25 miles from the ranch. We wondered if we might have to evacuate, but so far everything is okay.
