We arrived in Barcelona on Friday afternoon and went straight to Maia and Emre's apartment. Olivia and Sarah were very happy to see each other again! Friday night, another family from Childpeace was in town, so we all had dinner together. On Saturday, Sarah, Mike, and I went to see Sagrada Familia, which is a church that was started in the late 1800s, but still it isn't quite finished. It has crazy architecture. After that, we went to a part of town that has little shops, where Olivia and her parents met us. We went to a magic shop, and Sarah and Olivia each bought a trick. When you buy a trick, the owner takes you behind a curtain, so you can learn how to do it without anybody else seeing. You will have to wait until we get back for what kind of magic trick it is.
Maia and Emre took Olivia and Sarah back to the house, and Mike and I wandered around Barcelona for a bit. In the evening, we went to a restaurant called Tickets, which is owned by a famous chef, Ferran Adria, and his brother. They make weird food, molecular gastronomy, which means they deconstruct the food and put it back together. Sarah was a good sport and tried most things!
Saturday was also a kind of festival day in Barcelona, so in the evening, there were bonfires, and people lit fireworks in the squares.
