Eagle Nest is a neat little town. It's about a mile long with shops and such. It has such a friendly welcoming atmosphere. We have found the best pizza there! One spectacular thing is Eagle Nest Lake. It is super gorgeous but it is very, very cold and no swimming is allowed (which is a real bummer as the water is crystal clear) only fishing. We were told by one guy that within 10 minutes you would die of hypothermia in the lake. He said that there have been several fishermen that have fallen from their boats and died. There is a museum and we have read that the curator is a fascinating gentleman, a real mountain man, who knows the history of the area but unfortunately we didn't get to the museum on this trip. Next time hopefully.

Needless to say, we like Eagle Nest !
