I finally said goodbye to Madrid today, it was phenomenal but i was ready for a change. It was good to have a homebase like this city to get used to backpacking and life in Europe, but I wish I saw more of its surroundings. We had a 8 hour bus ride to Barcelona which was horrendous but we stopped in Zaragoza (city of ceasar) one of the first Spanish cities to see its amazing cathedral and have lunch. We got to barca in rush hour and saw the Olympic stadium and a good tour of the city overall. The difference between castillian Madrid and Catalonian barca was astounding. They're like 2 other countries...dry vs lush, different languages, different looking people. Overall I'll admit barca was more beautiful, it looked like brazil. We quickly had the best dinner yet on my trip, a seafood buffet and got to the hotel to get ready for the the long Barcalona night. We went to a local bar from 11-2, then headed to the fanciest club in the city where the football team goes. It was more incredible than the place in Madrid 2 days ago. It opened up seemless with the beach and was filled with fun tourists from all over, the local Spanish were a bit snobby. Once again 15euro drinks was not in the budget! We got home at 530am, Barcalona felt like a long dream.
