Lucille's green thumb is everywhere!

Almost ready to eat!

Big grin from Terry and Lucille - they are almost gone! What...

Yes, tomorrow we leave our gracious friends Terry and Lucille and make the two-hour drive to Charlottetown, the capitol and major city on PEI, our second Maritime Province. We’ll spend three nights at the Sonata Inn and tour this small island province, the land of Anne of Green Gables. From there on Sunday we will spend a week in Nova Scotia south of Halifax followed by four days on Cape Breton Island before sailing to Newfoundland on July 5.

To my great glee Cousin Kim in St. Johns, Newfoundland has arranged for my July eye treatment while in St. Johns. Ironically the doctor’s name is Brett Williams, the same as our grandson-in-law, husband of Rachel, the future podiatrist living in Philadelphia. Our Brett is also Canadian by birth. According to Kim this bit of irony may have aided in making this all happen, as well as Kim’s doctor title – he’s a Ph.D. – getting him past the office “gatekeeper” and talking directly with Dr. Williams.

Needless to say being with good friends these past six days has been quite comforting while not knowing when or where my next treatment would be and what changes we would have to make to our travel plans. It has also provided an opportunity for Lynda to get some treatment for an aching lower back; not much fun on a six-month car ride! During the past couple of days Lynda has had two visits to Lucille’s chiropractor. Having just awakened Lynda acknowledged that her back “feels much better.” So now we can move on with our Plan A itinerary.

We came here to New Brunswick to see our friends and experience a bit of their world. We have certainly done that in style; comfortable lodging, gorgeous weather, good conversation, beautiful flowers, sightseeing, and fine food, mostly of Lucille’s creation. Last evening we had a fresh seafood feast like no other under azure blue sky and a setting sun; lobster (one each), scallops, snow crab legs, mussels, and shrimp. We didn’t eat it all so today I believe seafood soup is in the offing. The photos tell the story.

That is all I have to report this time. Today will mostly be packing up and preparing for our departure. My next report will be from “By the Bay B&B” in Nova Scotia next week. So until then take care.
