Maggie, Nikki & Camden ready for dimmer
We arrived in beautiful, busy Newport, RI on the 15th. The whole town is abustle in preparation for the Americas Cup 2012-13, not to mention other races going on. Maggie took Camden for a walk as soon as we tied up and within minutes she fell crossing the street. She sustained bruises on both hands, an elbow and both knees. In a short while it became apparent that a trip to a walk-in clinic was necessary. Fast forward past the Doc, then ER and finally X-Rays and a soft cast on the left hand - which must be on for several weeks.
oh no! Whaterwegonnado? Sleep on it and figure it out in the morning. That's what we did. We had several options and Maggie nixed the first one which was to send Maggie & Camden home and Roger get help to move the boat back to square one.
We contacted family and a few friends and daughter Holleh & granddaughter Nikki came to the rescue by dropping everything and flying to RI to help us move the boat to NY/NJ where we can take a few weeks to get Maggie's hand healed well enough to resume our trip up the Hudson River. If we make it in time we'll be able to spend time with Maggie's Cousins at a graduation party.
We had a couple days to train the new crew members and sample some mighty fine New England cuisine, and drop a few $$$ on the usual souvenir wear.
