Justin on the Silk Road 2012 travel blog

So the last weekend before my trip, the worst thing possible happens. I get a fever and spend the whole weekend alternating between shivering uncontrollably and sweating profusely. To make it worse moving was difficult, laying in bed sounded great until i needed to turn the heater off again, then turn it on again.

I wasn't feeling great Friday night, but still went to see the movie Prometheus. Fortunately, only in 2D as the 3D would have made me worse I think. The movie was great by the way, the next few days not so much. To make matters worse, Saturday afternoon I felt good, I went to the doctor, temperature was down but still high, but on the low end of the scale. Saturday night it all started again and Sunday afternoon. At this stage I was thinking no holiday for me, or at least a delayed departure and hopefully make the start of the tour, bypassing the Guangzhou stopover.

However, Sunday night was uneventful, mostly headaches and topping up the water and paracetamol. Monday, not great, but up and moving, started to look at packing, but mostly still too weak to care. Today I'm back at work for a 2 day fling. I'm a little weak, but started to eat again. Hopefully pack tonight, As a rule I hate leaving holidays to the last minute (That rule doesn't apply to work or study though).

Next blog entry with any luck is from Guangzhou, Which looks to be lovely and tropical at 33C and storms, then Ashgabat on Sunday, fine sunny and a maximum of 41C!!!
