Shark Tank at feeding time

Shark overhead

Sea Otter

Auks, not penguins!

Tufted Puffin

another Puffin

On Friday, the 15th, I went to the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport, just a little way outside the park. I was a little disappointed as it was quite small and I was lucky enough to have seen at least the seals and seal lions in person. So to see them in a tank was almost sad. The shark tank was very interesting as people walk through a tube like structure as the sharks and fish swim around the sides and over the top. Very amazing. And then I got there at feeding time, along with lots of others. This was both interesting and gross!!

The other interesting exhibit was the sea birds. I finally got to see a Puffin, which I'd first heard of when I went to Alaska. And I had seen the Auks, they look like a penguin, near the ocean but didn't know what they were.

The Sea otter at the aquarium was very large; I'm assuming it was the male as there was a small one frolicking in and under the water and another one I couldn't see very well. Mom?

I didn't stay there very long, partly because there wasn't that much to see and mostly because the exhibits were mostly out in the sun and I was further burning my hands [which are now blistering] and face.

Yesterday I had to stay inside to stay out of the sun; I had wanted to go see another lighthouse but just couldn't. So I worked on finding places to stay around the 4th of July, which look impossible, and finally did find a state park in OR that has a few places.

Now I'm in Albany, OR at an RV Park where I feel very out of place. There are many permanent residents and their places are nicely decorated with flowers and plants, nice front steps or patios. But here I sit at the beginning of the park; I hope they'll get me a picnic table tomorrow. I need to wash dishes by can't have out my camp stove. :-( I have to have some blood work done nearby on Tuesday and get some meds from Walgreens. Excitement!! A purely functional stop. Maybe I'll go out and get a pizza one of these night as I've been craving one.
