2012 Taylor Southern States Trip travel blog

#62 6/12/2012 We had to get our last look at the Snake River this morning. We found the Shoshone Falls, said the be the Niagara Falls of the West. It is also a spot where Evil Knievel attempted to jump the Snake River in his sky cycle on 8 Sep 1974. There is only a dirt ramp there now, but you really can't see it because it is on private property. Anyway, the falls are 212 feet to the canyon floor, 50 feet higher than Niagara Falls. It was absolutely stunning to visit and very humbling. The pictures can't really do it justice. If you ever get near Twin Falls, ID, you must stop and see this marvel. We traveled on into Nevada without incident and landed in Battle Mountain for the night. 256 miles today
