From wild and beautiful Hatteras Island, NC ...

We arrived on Hatteras Island on Saturday afternoon. Much to our delight, this year we were able to check into our house a bit before the check in time even started. This gave us a couple more hours to get the car unpacked and our things settled into the house before the rest of our family arrived.
We are staying in the house named Spartina again this year which is located on the soundfront of the Pamlico Sound. The house is immaculate and full of great amenities, and the views are spectacular.
The rest of the family trickled in throughout the evening. Our nieces Sarah and Carey and Carey's boyfriend Brian didn't arrive until Sunday.
The nieces and nephews staying in the other house also came in on Saturday, and we all went out to dinner at The Captains Table that night. So we have a total of 19 in our group.
Everyone has been having a great time together. Big family breakfasts and even bigger family dinners at the Spartina House. We have a kitchen that would make any gourmet chef drool which is also equipped with two ovens and two dishwashers. One night Christy's husband, J.T., made authentic Philly Cheesesteaks. They were SO good!
We have congregated on the beach almost every day. On Tuesday it rained for a few hours. So they took the younger kids to the paint your own pottery place. On Friday, they can pick up their pottery designs after they have been fired.
One night I laid out all my jewelry trays for the women in the house to see. Rich and Laura's little 7 year old girl, Rowan, got so excited when saw everything. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen anyone so excited over my jewelry. : ) She had already been on the beach and collected a big bucket of shells, all with holes in them to make jewelry.
So the next day she had her Grandma purchase string for her, and she made necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. Then last night Rowan set up a jewelry show on the deck outside with little signs with her prices. She made a decent profit selling her shell jewelry to all of us. She is the cutest thing and said that I was her inspiration. haha She even had an inventory sheet which she updated as she sold each piece. Then this morning she used her profits to purchase a jewelry from my collection.
Well we just finished another big breakfast with blueberry waffles and omelettes, so I think I better get outside and get a little exercise.
