Slaving in the kitchen

I liked Jamestown. I thought they did a fine job dividing the history of the area into the Native Americans, the settlers and the sailors. It is always pretty cool as a Californian to see some real, old-fashioned pre-Gold Rush historical sites. I thought the Jamestown historical interpreters did a pretty good job. What struck me most were the stories of all those intrepid British colonists stuffed way down in the bowels of the small ship throwing up for weeks in rough waters and suffering through dysentery. What a road trip! Makes four weeks in a mini-van look like paradise.
