The salmon fish size in Valdez, Ak.

Today we drove from Glennallen,Ak. to Valdez, Ak.. The road had some frost heaves as we went air bound as we rolled down the highway. Finally reaching Thompson pass about 25 miles from Valdez, we crossed the pass at 2700 feet elevation and then went down hill to Valdez which is at sea level. Took the down hill in 3rd gear and sometimes shifted into 2nd gear to slow down and not use the breaks to much. Don't want another break job.

After parking at Eagles Rest RV Park we walked around Valdez visiting two museums. At one museum we met a local person who told us about the history of Valdez and especially the earthquake and tidal wave of 1964 which wiped out most of Valdez. In the following 2 years after the earthquake Valdez was mmoved about 5 miles away to a new location. Tomorrow we will put the slide in and raise the jacks and drive around the valdez area checking out more sites.
