We have been busy trying to see as much of this beautiful area as possible. We started out at the Port of Newport Pier watching people clamming under the bridge, it was low tide and perfect for digging.
At the end of the pier, people were also tossing out the crab cages for crabs. I didn't see anyone having any luck with the crabs yet.
I also spotted a huge bird nest way out on a tower, still don't know what kind of bird it was, but it was cool to watch.
Our next stop was Nye Beach. Another beautiful beach to explore in the area, there are so many things to do here, we need more time. :-)
We were surprised to see the dock that washed up from Japan from the Tsunami. The thing is HUGE. It is 66 feet long and 19 feet wide. They are trying to figure out what to do with it.
They have tested it for radiation and no evidence was found. I zoomed in from a distance, people were walking all around it looking. It is all over the news in the area. It makes me wonder what else is going to wash up on the beaches here.
I will let the pictures tell the rest of the story. Check back later for more from Oregon.
