Rugby, ND

We didn't make it to Williston. Stopped early for the night at Lewis &Clark State Park east of Williston. Large impoundment here with several marinas and rental kayaks. Nice campground. Although we are in the badlands, the campground actually has trees.

The drive in from Grand Forks was interesting. We stopped in Rugby, ND the geographical center of North America. Lunch was in a beautiful little city park. The terrain was flat with a lot of the afore mentioned wetlands and lakes. Every piece of land that was higher than the water table was farmed. At Minot a drastic change occurred. West of Minot it became very hilly. Unfortunately the hills are being mined for the sand. After the sand mining came the new oil wells. Our neighbors in the campground told us the land in this area is being destroyed by the oil wells. Many people from Michigan are moving to the area for employment.

Warm here tonight. Had to turn on the A/ C to cool the rig down. At the western end of the time zone so it was light until 10:30pm.
