We are now in Bar Nunn, WY just west of Casper at a small KOA campground and as Liz Wolf would say we're rockin' and rollin' tonight. The wind has picked up and the trailer ( still attached to the truck ) is rockin' in our lucky 13 campsite. The drive here on I-25N was uneventful, only 278 miles today. It was HOT -95 degrees but for most of the trip the wind was at our backs. We left Estes Park at 8:45, followed the Big Thompson River north through a beautiful canyon then through prairie-horse country mostly plus our first sheep herd , as well as bison and cattle. We went through Big horn sheep country but never saw any.
Made it into our campsite, got hooked up (water, electric, sewer & cable) and blessed AC when suddenly the AC stopped. Yikes! not again...that was fixed last year!!! We were searching for the cause when our campground host came to the trailer to report a blown circuit breaker that served the area we were camped in. It was reset, blew again. His boss had gone into "town" to get a new one. In the meantime since there was no guarantee this would solve the problem he offered to help us move to a different site, which we did. We're now at site 13 and after a dinner of omelet and toast and LOTS of water we took Colden for a walk-actually one of his break neck runs-in a lovely nearby park. He really loved the thick grass-something we're seen little of on the trip here. Met a couple from California with 2 labs who'd been to Alaska last year. Got some good info from them .
I've added some additional pictures from our trip to Rocky Mt NP. Off tomorrow to National Historic Trails Interpretive Center in Casper (wish us luck, wind gusts are expected to be 60 mph) then on to Cody and the east side of Yellowstone. I'll get back to you in several days-we'll be 3 nights in Cody...until then stay well and our love to you all.
