Royal Gorge Train

|First, before writing anything else, we want to thank all of you kind friends and relatives, who called, sent e-mails, or left comments or messages of congratulations on FB.
Your kindness was overwhelming!
We are blessed indeed! Thank you so very much!
Marilyn & I celebrated by taking a train ride. LOL
Actually, the Royal Gorge Railway, offers a special adventure in the form of a Gourmet Dinner in a Vista-Dome Car, while riding through the Royal Gorge.
We showered and dressed up more than is usual for the RV lifestyle, trying not to overdress for the train.
We stopped to have our picture taken by Mary Nell before leaving the Resort.
We drove to Canon City and, after a couple of wrong turns, found the correct parking lot for the train excursions.
When I gave our name at the “Will Call” ticket booth, the lady behind the counter said “Congratulations and Happy 50th Anniversary Mr & Mrs Dray”.
That was nice.
We walked to the waiting area for our assigned Gate. The waiting area was a large, open sided tent, with tables and bench seats.
After a wait of about 20 minutes we lined up, showed our tickets and boarded the train. We had to pause to have our picture taken before climbing the steps to board, then walked through the dining car to the Vista Dome car.
We were led to our seats at a table at the far end of the car, where we noticed that we were to be seated with another couple.
Soon a nice couple named Gary & Janet arrived with a smile and sat opposite us.
We enjoyed these nice folks from Salida, Colorado, and soon the train began moving.
Let me just say that the scenery was awesome as the train moved along through the Royal Gorge, only a few feet away from the fast moving Arkansas River.
On open car was right next to the Vista Dome car and we were encouraged to go outdoors to take pictures at any time.
We noticed that the bridge high above the Royal Gorge looks even farther away when you are looking up.
The meal was just great also. Marilyn & I both selected the 14 oz Prime Rib, while our friends ordered Salmon or Chicken.
Those choices were served with potatoes and asparagus spears.
A delicious salad and rolls with butter, preceded the main course while a wonderfully decadent dessert followed.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and Marilyn made the comment that she was really happy.
That was all I needed to hear!
