|Left Tucson early Tues. morning. Boy, we thought there was nothing to see across TX, but there is absolutely nada from Tucson to San Diego! Had a picnic lunch at a rest stop, and the temp was probably close to 100. Surrounded by sand as we crossed the Imperial Sand Dunes, it looked more like the Sahara Desert than Arizona/CA. Good place to train marines for desert survival! After crossing the Gila Mt. range, things began to return to normal. Arriving in San Diego was like standing under a cool attic fan. Temp was around 68, heavenly! We went grocery shopping and settled in at a Travel Lodge on Hotel Circle, a street along the interstate with every name-brand hotel you can think of. We drove out to Point Loma-a beautiful sea-side village, with quaint houses and flowers everywhere. The view there is magnificent!
