Jasper/Whistler campground. Nice wooded campground. Electricity. Had a change of plans this AM. It looked unpromising as we headed towards Lake Louise, so we decided to drive on to Jasper on the Icefields Highway. Very scenic. Ran into snow at the top by Abathasca(?) Glacier. We stopped at the visitor center by the glacier - along with about 25-30 (seriously) tour buses. What a zoo! Glacier was totally socked in with the snow, so we didn't hike any. Kind of disappointing. Road pretty rough in spots and had rain all the way. Came into town and found Internet. Jasper is a real nice town. Not as crowded and touristy as Banff. Forgot to mention yesterday that on our hike some kids (big ones) were scrambling off trail and knocked loose about a 5" rock that missed the lady behind us by about a foot. John was really mad. It could have been real ugly. Saw a black bear and a couple elk today, but again I missed the photo op. Don't know what the plans are, since the carefully generated schedule from last night changed today. With all the rain, we saw a rainbow in front of us against the snow. Really pretty, but missed the picture. Will begin to keep camera out and ready.
