5/5 – 5/6

Our next stop was in 146 miles at a Wal-Mart in Ridgecrest, California (I-10, I-215, I-15, US395). Along the way we met David and Dianne in Boron, California at a restaurant that was recommend to us by a fellow we met in 2003. Well it was certainly worth the stop, we had a 4 star lunch at Domingo’s Mexican Restaurant (27075 Twenty Mule Team Rd. 760-762-6266) which included great enchiladas, chili rellenos and David said the fajitas were quite good. David and Dianne will be travelling with us for most of the month.

While in Ridgecrest we drove to the Trona Pinnacles National Landmark. The pinnacles were formed underwater when the area was a huge lake. The local area is known for its Borax production but the town of Trona has seen better days. The high school is some-what famous, it has one of the only dirt (no grass/carpet) football fields in the US.
