NT SIZE=4>Well, after a long, long, long (you get the point) plane ride, my back and ass are both officially shot. I passed the first 8 hours watching movies, getting up between each movie to stretch. The last five hours is what hurt. If you can sleep sitting up..... God Bless You. I can't. I will tell you though that Korean Airlines is by far the best airline I have ever flown with. All the stewardesses are so accommodating and greet you with smiles and want to do their best to make your flight as comfortable as possible. They also like to make you fat! We had 3 meals, two snacks, and every hour they came by with OJ or water. If you wanted alcohol, that's fine. It's included with the flight. I didn't but the guy behind me drank enough for both of us. One thing I've learned is NEVER drink alcohol on a long flight especially when you're passing through 15 time zones (as I was). Anyway, I'm not in Seoul but am a few miles west in Inchon. When we landed, I was actually able to see (thanks to the lady sitting next to me) North Korea. It is VERY close to here which is a little scary with what's happening with those commies.
It is very smoggy here. When I get to Bangkok later, it will be dark but I have been told that Bangkokis even worse. I'll find out tomorrow.
I just bought a new digital camera before I left Anchorage yesterday (feels like last week at this point) so I will play with it tomorrow and then start posting pics as soon as I figure the thing out.
It is truly amazing to me that I have not seen very many Koreans with a pouty or sad face. Everyone smiles here! Case in point, when we had meal #2, we were experiencing some pretty good turbulance. The stewardesses were having a hard time concentrating on pouring wine, water, whatever when they passed out the meal and so for whatever reason, I was skipped. I knew they would come back and I certainly didn't want to act like a frenchman, so I waited. After about 10 minutes, the one stewardess crouches down next to me (I had an aisle seat) and wants to know if I was served. Long story short, she apologized over and over (think Joan Jett). She felt so bad and I was like, hey, no big deal. But for the rest of the flight, she checked up on me after each meal or beverage run. You have to experience it to fully understand it. I was impressed, though.
So, I have been awake since Wednesday morning (-45 minutes or so at the hotel in Anchorage) so I am just giddy. I am in the middle of a 3 hour layover here and then it's off to Bangkok. Unfortunately, that is another 3 hours and 40 minutes. Like I said earlier, John Glenn got to the moon faster.
When I get in tonight, I will sleep and will not post again until at least 24-36 hours from now. By that time, I should have the camera figured out. So if you are on CST, it is now 07:30 AM on Friday for you. Since I am still on Alaska time, it is 04:30 AM on Friday. No wonder I'm giddy....
