2012 Northwest Trip travel blog

We left our campground & drove I90 to Portage, Indiana where we took Route I80 to avoid the Chicago area. It was 69 degrees when we got up & by afternoon it was 91 degrees & windy. We drove all day & stopped in Mauston, Wisconsin for dinner & a 2 hour lay over. They were predicting a damaging hail storm & possible tornado throughout the area we were headed so we stayed put. After the threat had passed, we drove about half an hour to a Walmart in Tomah, WI. There were several other campers already settled in for the night. The sky remained really black but we never got rain or a storm. However, in 2 hours it dropped 30 degrees. Today, we drove 442 miles through Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin.
