Day 8 - leaving Rome on our way to Chiusi
Got up early to catch the bus to Termini train station. A pretty quick ride but it would have been a pain to walk with our luggage. Got there early enough to go over to the museum Andy had water at...nice spot to wait out our time.
We had originally gotten into a fairly long line to get our tickets but some GENEROUS soul asked us if we wanted some help to use the FastTicket machine. Sure, why not. We whipped through that in about 2 minutes so much better! "where do you need to go" he asked we didn't know so he showed us...then asked for 15 euro for his trouble...bullshit! We gave him 5 euro and the finger and left...what a scam and we fell right into it.
Next trying to find our seats when you have never taken a train...some helpful young girl was showing where we had to go...AND TRIED TO PICK MY POCKET IN THE CONFUSION. I felt like a complete dude.
Nice train ride to Chiusi to get our car. No issues...until we got to the car...it had a baby seat in the back. When we went to return it 10 minutes later, the office was closed for siesta. Guess we have a car seat now.
Off to Montepulciano...nice drive...no problems.
A beautiful Medieval town with so much character. Lots of pictures. We did stop in a 'small' winery in town a bought a couple bottles after tasting some great Tuscan stuff. Karen got her Rick Steve's book signed and I took her picture with the actual owner of the winery...cool.
Oh ya, this is one of two towns famous for being part of the movie Twilight.
A few hours there and off to Volterra...our next layover.
