We visited the awesome "Cheese Factory" of Rouge et Noir today and sampled some of their award winning cheeses. We watched the cheese-makers producing the cheese. We also purchased a four pack and a couple of great sandwiches for our picnic lunch.
The Cheese Factory produces over 35 cheeses by hand. Marin French Cheese Company is the oldest cheese manufacturer in the US. They have produced hand-crafted Artisan soft-ripened cheese since 1865. Rouge et Noir cheeses are similar to French and European varieties but reflect the characteristics of Northern California, producing its own regional style.
The grounds are located in a beautiful coastal mountain valley and the views are spectacular. We enjoyed walking around the watching the ducks and smelling the awesome tree roses down by the lake.
We also visited the historic section of Petaluma and viewed some of the beautiful old homes in the area. I will let the pictures tell the rest of the story.
