2012-04-30 The Alamo & River Walk

Today we drove 40 miles south to San Antonio. The Alamo, the symbol of Texas’ independence, is now a shrine to the men who fought and died there. It is a very beautiful place. Built as a mission, but never completed, served as a fort and hospital and the place where many became martyrs for the fight for independence from Mexico, the Alamo is now a shrine to that historic event.

We then went down to the River Walk and had lunch in a Mexican restaurant overlooking the water.

Later,

Gary
