Left Koh Tao on the catamaran bound for Chumphon. Sat out back on boat and enjoyed the spray although in the sun for 90mins. Best boat journey so far. The other 2 made me feel a bit queasy cos trapped inside.
Took some nice photos of Chumphon pier, nowt else there except buses. Waited over an hour for our bus connection to Bangkok so had some local food, chicken, garlic, pepper n rice. Tasty. Uneventful coach journey, when we finally left, seat mixups made us late leaving. Journey took 7 and a half hrs with a half hour stop. Driver also stopped with 3 other coaches to discuss a wheel change on a 4th coach. 10 men all stood around umming and arrghing. He also stopped for flowers to hang on his mirror, very popular here.
Arrived in Bangkok and jumped on a tuk tuk amidst the chaos of passengers milling about. Thought we'd done well till the driver took us on a whirlwind tour of Bangkok for half an hour then said he didn't know our hotel. We refused to get out till he found us a proper taxi. Poor man was flustered but he took us miles away. The next driver struggled too but eventually we got there. Nice hotel. It was late but we needed food so went to nearest place which was an Italian across the street, nice food.
