We spent a lovely last day in Paris before leaving for Nice today.
After a breakfast of omelette and a cappuccino ,we decided to spend several hours in the Tuileries ..
We spent time by one of the lakes, enjoying the beautiful sunshine, although it was quite chilly.
After a couple of hours of people watching, we moved into the outdoor restaurant for a light lunch and a couple of glasses of champagne.
Next we moved on to the banks of the Seine River, where we again sat on the banks watching all the boats, people, ducks etc.
It was a delightfully peaceful and restful day.
We had arranged to meet Robert for dinner, and so he came here at about 6pm. He had kindly bought me a bottle of Verve, which was very much enjoyed before we left for dinner.
We had this at a little restaurant in rue saint Honere, cafe Castigliani.
We had a beautiful dinner of fois GRAS, for entree, and then for mains, Barry and I had the fillet of boeff, and Robert the boeff tartare.
All declared their meals as absolutely beautiful!!
Next Robert and Barry demanded to have dessert, Robert a crime brûlée, Barry an apple tarting, and I had a plate of beautiful strawberries.
This was all enjoyed with a lovely bottle of Rose en Provence. Superb!
After a long day we crawled into bed knowing we had to be up early to pack before our trip to Nice.
We are catching the very fast train, TGV, which travels at 350kms per hour and takes 5.30hrs.
Then the Hotel Negresco on the Promenade de Anglais, Nice, where we will be staying for 4 nights then on to aix en Provence .
More about our trip in the next entry.
For now I am terrified about getting to the Gare de Lyon, and finding the fit platform and getting on to tha train all carrying my 20kg case!!
The joys of travelling!!!
