Up in the dark and onto a 4x4 for an early morning game drive. In the first ten minutes we spy a pride of lions and cubs playing around. Many Impala, Springbok, Kudu, Cape Buffalo, Warthog, Elephants and lots of birds.
We are lucky again to see a male lion sitting sunning himself. He very kindly gets up, stretches and wanders away giving us some great photo opportunities.
Can only see hippos in the distance – just their noses sticking out of the water – hope at some stage we can see one on land.
Back to camp for breakfast – Sofie treating us with pancakes. Some wander into the town.
At 4pm we join other campers for a boat cruise up the Chobe River. We see our first crocodiles sunning themselves. Also kudu, buffalo and elephants.
We hang around waiting for the hippos to get out of the water but to no avail. We do get a closer look at some munching on reeds and grass on the way back which is nice.
Another Gecko tour parks next to us in the evening – pitching some of their tents amongst ours – bit rude – and we vow to make a lot of noise in the early morning.
