Ross County Football Premiership Celebrations

Ross County Football Premiership Celebrations

28th April 2012 (Bed No 25)

After travelling all day through the Isle of Skye we headed to Strathpeffer (near Inverness) where we had booked our accommodation. It was getting late so we took a short drive to Dingwall for dinner. To our surprise the main street was filled with cars, people and police controlling the crowds. I asked a woman what all the commotion was about and she explained that their local football team (Ross County) had won the cup and were going to parade through the streets. Lots of noise and excitement but the only problem was that every pub, cafe and restaurant was totally booked out due to the celebrations. No dinner for us here. It was getting late so back to eat in a hotel near our accommodation.

Apparently, Robert Louis Stevenson the Scottish novelist and poet wrote a description of Strathpeffer in one of his novels. There you go, a bit of useless trivia for you to remember.
