From Rome we headed to FrancaVilla via the Pescara train station. After about a 4 hour ride we were greeted at the train station by Giulana and Zia Cetina (John's Aunt, Grandmom Dirito's sister), and Aurelio (Giulana's 2 and a half year old son). Life is so easy when family is around!
Giulana drove Pat and Rachel while John, Chris, and Dave faced certain death while riding in a taxi through the busy-traffic filled city of Pescara. We headed to Giulana and Sandro's house for lunch in FrancaVilla, a beautiful town right on the Adriatic Sea. After another delicious and extremely filling Italian lunch, Chris, Dave and Rachel decided to walk off some of the pasta on the beach. But, it wouldn't be a complete day in Italy without gelato. So we met the rest of the group for gelato. After a light dinner we headed to another town close by-Chieti. Zia Cetina has a very nice apartment which she allowed us to overtake J
The next day we had another family lunch with the whole crew; Dave, Ray, Chris, John, Pat, Sandro, Giulana, Aurelio, and Zia Cetina. After lunch we huddled around the TV to catch a stage of the Tour De France, while trying to understand the commentating in Italian! Later in the evening we headed back to FrancaVilla for some internet time and a pizza dinner out at a restaurant . We headed back to Chieti for another good night's sleep. Two things we really like . . . sleeping and eating!
The next morning the whole group headed to Lama dei Peligni, John's home town.
