Update Time

From Advanced RV Resort – Houston/Pearland, TX

Cannot believe it has been almost a month since last I posted to the journal…………time just seems to fly by. As you can see from the “where are we” introduction line to this post, we have returned to our so called home base park and have not traveled or found any new attractions to share with you other than the recent Hill Country rally.

As I posted earlier, my step dad had some health issues but am glad to report that after a long hospital stay he is back home and improving daily………thanks to those readers who shared their concerns and well wishes. Because of not knowing how he would respond to treatment, we had not made any long term plans for travel this year.

However now that he is well on the road to recovery we have set in motion plans for the remainder of this year and start of next year. We did before our exact time frame of being close to family was determined made an obligation to host at a state park which would keep us in the proximity to help further if needed by my mom and step dad for the month of June. Having made this commitment, our 2012 travels will begin July 1st. Rudy has also been doing some “workamping” here at Advanced and loving his interaction with people in the park and the staff!

By being here close to our children, we got to celebrate our son’s birthday with a wonderful seafood dinner at Pappa’s in Houston…….seems since beginning our RV lifestyle, we were always traveling the later part of April and only a birthday phone call was shared so this was special for us. We have also had some enjoyable visits with our daughter and gotten to see firsthand the results of her now yearlong fitness commitment and the fantastic results it has produced……….way to go April you should be proud of your amazing accomplishments.

Then whenever we are back in this park we have lots of fun, laughs and good times with our friends Ellie and Ron whom we met while staying here a couple of years ago. Guess no matter where our travels take us, we will always feel “home” is here at Advanced.

After having surprises with things being in strange places when we unhitch at a new place for a couple of months now we decided it was time to have the suspension looked at and replaced. So we made the arrangements at a local RV dealership and had this accomplished last Wednesday.

Another bit of excitement was coming out of the local Cracker Barrel and discovering our truck had been broken into and several items which included an iPod, our camping membership cards, and several restaurant gift cards missing. However this had a very good outcome as the next day we were notified that the sheriff’s department had arrested and recovered all of our missing items……….glad to see the law does work as designed and the culprits committing crimes are caught and held responsible at least every now and then.

Guess this just about sums up what has been happening in the lives of the “Home Sweet RV” family for now. We will be back on the road soon but will keep you updated till then.
