Ciao Pompeii !!

Ciao, ciao Bella!!!!

Happy cinco de mayo!! We had a fab breakfast at our favorite hotel so far, and packed up for our train to Naples and then off to Taormina ! The train we wanted (first class and fast, with no stops) was all booked up. We decided to overnight at the same hotel we stayed on Tuesday, and take the early train out! It was perfect because I was able to jump on the bus, circumvesiana line, and go to Pompeii for a few hours! What a sight! Of course, I follow an English guide, next stop the Lupanare... Lupa in Latin means prostitute and this little house was the best organized brothel. All the other ones were single rooms, or in the back of a shop....umm, sound familiar? Speaking of which, on the road to Rome, they stand in t-backs on the side of the road, like they are selling flowers....In the brothel i visited, There are 5 rooms and a latrine; the stone beds were covered with a mattress. Paintings depicting the different positions to be used in the erotic games decorated the lupanare. I mention this because of the 67 hectares that Pompeii covers, I pick the guide visiting the brothel!!!! He noticed the extra head...gave me a "I know you didn't pay" look, so I moved on! Next English speaker was visiting the Forum Baths! Was this a sign, prostitutes and baths.....very interesting, indeed!!! I took a few more pics, walked around and headed to the train....which resembled a bus! Arrived back at the hotel and we decided to eat at the hotel.... Naples is just not conducive to walking the filthy streets.... We spent a little more, but we were safe and it was delicious!!! Buona notte!
