2012 Arizona Adventures travel blog

Monday, April 23

Our departure from Gold Canyon is relatively early for us…we were on the road shortly after 9 am. It is supposed to be another hot day. We are only driving 150 miles today, but we are driving through the Salt River Canyon area that has a lot of hills and winding roads. Jim and I are both somewhat worried about it. Turns out it wasn’t that hard since the passing lanes were well pointed. We took our time and enjoyed the scenery stopping several times as we rose to 6400 feet elevation in Show Low in the White Mountains of Arizona. I definitely would recommend this drive to see the beauty here. Now I can understand why Phoenix is called “The Valley!”
