We've moved on to St. Augustine on the Atlantic side of Florida. The city is rich with history, nice restaurants, and beautiful beaches. It also offered us a chance to visit with some more of Eileen's family and to meet up with former neighbors of ours from MA, who were visiting for a couple of days.
We toured the Lighthouse, as we had done on a previous visit, walking up the 219 metal, circular stairs. The views from the top are outstanding.
We also toured the historic Ponce de Leon Hotel, which is now Flagler College. We were fascinated with the murals, Tiffany glass, tile, marble and opulence. The hotel rooms are now female dorms. Since the hotel was only one of two with electricity at the time of construction, there were light bulbs in the most interesting places.
