Here I am in Susterseel, Germany, with my daughter Ginny, s-i-l Chuck, Chris and Chelsea. They are known there as the Familie Taylor with St Hubertus Catholic Church. We spent the weekend being a part of the community's celebrations. Sunday we attended the opening of a fire station, complete with three community bands, fun for the children and coffee, pastries, and beer for adults. We met an English speaking student who explained about the new fire station and introduced us to his girl friend and her grandmother. Monday evening we watched raising of the May Day tree which was successful after several attempts. Several of the bands from Sunday paraded through the streets before playing at a small square. More fun for children, more pastries, more beer. We felt like we were just another family enjoying life in a small town.
