20th April 2012 (Bed No 20)

Today we bid farewell to Ireland. Even thought we have had our fair share of hiccups, the island has been kind to us with its beautiful surroundings and mild weather.

Our ferry to Holyhead Wales was not due to depart until 4pm. This was a good opportunity to find a laundrette and get our washing done properly. Living out of a suitcase for the past month not been a problem, but the wand washing, I can do without.

A 3 ½ hour ferry trip and we were in Wales once again. An overnight stay in Cemaes Bay proved very interesting. As we entered the hotel we were met by a staff member who immediately knew that we were the “Aussies” staying the night (At the time, we didn’t know that we were the ONLY guests). The bar was full of people and loud music was being played as an engagement party was being held. The owner apologised for the noise but before we knew it we were invited to join the crowd by the engaged couple. A few drinks later we went to bed as it was going to be a karaoke night. If the first few singers were any indication of the talent, we really were not drunk enough to withstand the pain. Have to say that this was probably one of the classiest places we have stayed in so far!
