At first a little skeptical about our level two coconut package in Fiji, we are happy to say our "camp Fiji" experience has been one of the best not only because we were in stunningly beautiful paradise (it did rain 7 out of 10 days we were there but no worries it was still beautiful and warm), but because of the fun and interesting people we met- Heat Rash, Silent Assassin, Minnesota, Sheep-Shagger, MI-6 and Simon. With these characters we spent many-a-hours exploring, playing cards, drinking Fiji Bitter and fruity, tropical drinks, discussing American culture*, basking in the limited sun, swimming in caves, snorkeling, diving, island hoping, going on death-defying boat rides and hanging with the locals.

A favorite memory: It all started on a small island in the South Pacific. An eclectic group of travelers fiercely competed for the title of Seven-up Champion (a card game we will teach you), when suddenly the skies opened up and torrents of rain began to cascade down. Oh, no, the travellers thought, the game! As we all scrambled for cover someone noticed on the shore the staff unloading a boat full of supplies. Without a second thought everyone ran towards the water to help unload (there was beer in the boat!). In our clothes we waited into the water where the staff loaded our arms with supplies. Drenched to the bone by the time the boat was empty it just seemed natural to jump fully into the water where we splashed and played with the staff waiting for the boat to come back with more supplies. Friendly play, however, soon turned into fierce competition (again). Two teams formed (under the dictatorship of Anna-Mari) to compete in the very first Korovu April 2012 Kayak Open Water Race- and for that moment we were no longer simply a staff and guests, but friends from all over the world. This experience in turn changed the rest of our stay on the island to a more personal and meaningful experience.
