Snow Mass Mountain outside Glenwood Springs

Day 3- April 27, 2012

Leaving Moab, Highway 128 follows the Colorado River through steep, sheer canyon walls until it opens up into a small area of wineries. (Tempting, but we didn’t stop.) Moab is having a classic car show this weekend and many of them were traveling the same road we took right ahead of us. Apparently, it was a Kodak moment for them since they were all traveling at 10 miles an hour so that some guy could take their picture as they passed. Held up traffic for miles. The pace picked up when they all turned off to head back to town. We are staying at the Glenwood Canyon RV park right on the Colorado. From our spot, there’s the river, a train track, and a steep mountain side. When we were here seven years ago, there was a turkey buzzard nest on the mountain. We don’t see any signs of it this time. We drove into Glenwood Springs and wandered around a bit. Cooper, we thought of you as we drove by the infamous parking lot where we got the rock stuck in between our double back tires. It took Rob and Cooper an hour to unstick that rock. I think we ended up deflating the tires to get it out. The rock is still sitting on my pond at home since Cooper insisted on hauling it home. We had dinner and margaritas at Chili’s tonight. Weather is very windy today, more so here in this canyon. It’s a chilly wind too. Tomorrow, Estes Park is the goal.
