Rob and Syd's Western Canada and Alaska trip 2012 travel blog

Monument Valley "The Mittens"

Monument Valley "Mexican Hat"

The first day of the big adventure to Alaska. Part of the adventure was spending the last few days deciding what to bring and where to put it. I’m sure I brought way too many clothes (and Rob would say shoes) but a girl has to cover all her bases. We have never spent more than three weeks in the “bus” so we had to also think about what to bring from the kitchen and pantry that we don’t normally carry. I know a lot of people live in their RV’s full time, but I can’t see it happening for me. So we said our goodbyes to our kids and grandbabies this morning. Beau will be walking before we get home and see him again. He probably won’t even remember us.  We drove through Flagstaff, up across the rez, and through Monument Valley. Rob and I are both natives and neither one of us have seen it before. We are in Moab tonight, at an RV campground on the Colorado River. Beautiful spot. We’ll stay here two nights.
