We bussed back into Brussels this morning with blue sky and sunshine. This was short-lived. The whole day was one minute sunshine, nek minit wind and rain. Just like Auckland weather. We found Manneken Pis, the famous little fountain and then spent a couple of hours in the Museum on Grote Markt (the old Maison de Roi). The museum covers the history of Brussels but also the top floor has a fantastic display of the handmade costumes that have adorned Manneken Pis on special occasions. We saw only a small selection of the 700 costumes the museum has. We now went looking for hot chocolate and a Belgian waffle for Sue, a beer for David and free WiFi. That whole package didn’t happen. We found a noisy Irish bar with free WiFi, an overworked, grumpy barmaid and hot chocolate. Of these three, the WiFi failed, the barmaid got antsy and the hot chocolate was in the too hard box. We moved on. Sue got her waffle from a street stall - which was very good. Now the ‘package’ was almost complete…

We continued on to a bar near the bus station for that hot chocolate and a beer or two for David until the bus came. We just got back to Homer before it rained again, heavily. Lovely to be home and dry and warm.
