Reflections of Albany - a rare sight

How lovely to be back on the road once more - we have missed this life!!

(Friday 20th) Went across the State on the Coalfields Rd and joined Albany Hwy at West Arthur - arrived in Albany safely and set ourselves up in our ensuite site, with the other 4 sites alongside, ready for the others to arrive on Sunday. Is pretty wet here, though, so hope the weather clears up for the week.

Had a wonderful week which included a very cold Dawn Service atop Mt Clarence, a friendly march through Albany with the Naval Association contingent, then quite a few hours at the RSL Club. Heard during that day that our Niece, Hayley, is expecting baby no3 - how exciting for the family.

We three Sisters, and Peter, met Mum's cousin, Severin, at the Entertainment Centre Cafe, and had a couple of hours with him. We also called around to see if we could catch up with some Katanning-days friends, but they were not home.

An absolutely superb lunch at Emu Point, a run out to Goode Beach, and get-togethers each evening with wines, freshly cooked oysters (we got through 10 dozen in two evenings!!) plenty of nibblies, footy on the tv, barbecues - you name it, we did it. The weather was just wonderful Monday-Friday - can not recall EVER seeing the waters here in Albany so calm, there was no rain or wind - it was beautiful. However, the rain began again as the others packed up on Saturday morning to head for home.

We also had the surprise of our lives when Pat and George (Simm) pulled in opposite us in their big van, the day after we arrived. We had not seen them since before we left on our journey last year - you could have knocked us all over with a feather!! So they joined in on some of our arrangements, too, as Pat knows Anne and Paddy from years ago. Had a great 4 days, culminating in a meal for 12 of us at the local Restaurant on Anzac night, the evening before they(Pat & Geo) left.

So, back to reality tomorrow.... what a great week this has been.
