Sunset & Moon over Chokoloskee Bay

Going on south some more, but not far, to Chokoloskee Island, near Everglades City. Chokoloskee is a small mostly fishing village, or for people who love to fish or for those who are searching for wildlife - birds, gators, crocs, bear, deer, and some spooky swamp monster that's a legend around. A store clerk told us she's lived there about 70 years or so and she's never seen "no old swamp thing." We didn't either.

In the midst of these fishing shacks, cottages, and villas, was a very nice rv park, part of a chain - RV Resorts.

Mostly people own the sites and rent them when not there; we got a beautiful spot right on the water with a large deck out over the water, huge royal palms, and even some grass. Soleil loved it!

Everglades City is the nearest town around with stores, restaurants, etc. -- and a lovely little city hall and community church, established in 1926.

Amazing that these have withstood many many hurricanes.

We explored the small national park, the bayous, streets of the two towns, and the pool and our "camp" spot. And, of course, enjoyed the sunsets from "our" deck.
