We had this really bright idea to go get the mail … We’ll just drop by the house in Emery and get it. That would save us about $11.35 in postage. That being said, we did have a delightful 639 mile trip to get the mail … we only spent about $85 in gas, $60 for meals, and $53.41 for the hotel … but we saved $11.35 on the postage.

The day started off foggy and the weather went downhill from there. Lots of wind and rain. We got to Emery about an hour before MY HOME ADDRESS closed up for the day, so we had a nice visit with Bonnie, Peggy and Bruce. They have been taking care of our mail since 2006. Great folks. My Home Address takes care of the mail and license plates for about 1400 traveling folks. We run into alot of people with our address, it’s kinda fun …

We spent the night in Mitchell, home of The Corn Palace The palace is a multi-purpose arena/facility and is a popular tourist destination, visited by more than 500,000 people each year. The Moorish Revival building is decorated with Crop art; the murals and designs covering the building are made from corn and other grains. The exterior corn murals are redesigned and replaced each year with a new theme. The designs are created by local artists. It costs about $130,000 annually to decorate the Palace.

Got up this morning (Friday the 20th) and headed back to Rapid City in calm sunshine and blue sky. Nice for a change. On the way home we did some Pheasant hunting, just looking along the road, no shooting. Paul saw 12 or so, Kathie managed to see 9 or 10. The roosters really stand out, the hens are really hard to see. We only counted the live ones. There were a lot of dead ones along side the road.

We passed by the little town of Wall, and of course we just had to stop at the drugstore. We have been here before, but it is a fun place to take a break.
