The Carlson's Travels - 2012 travel blog

Well, we made it to South Dakota

Coming into the Black Hills

Hills and trees

Racing a few Pronghorns

Nasty clouds at the campground

Very nasty clouds

But there is a rainbow

Beautiful downtown Keystone

Looking the other way

A little ole lady in one of the few open shops

Pulling some taffy

Glad we aren't in the motorhome

Whoa, that's steep

A turkey along the road

and some deer

The morning started in Sidney with a low coolant light. The engine was about a gallon low. At least we got it fixed before we actually got on the road.

Was a nice drive to Rapid City and Ellsworth AFB. Got to the Fam camp at the base only to find out it doesn’t open until May 15 … Great !!! Back down the road to Hermosa and Heartland RV park. This park is actually cheaper that the base. We got set up in camp and the WIND started again … we are sick of the wind. Got so bad we had to bring the slides in again.

Wednesday 4-18

Went over to the base and got new ID cards. The military is removing social security numbers from all the cards. From there, we went over to get our drug test done for the job in Yellowstone. On the way back we tooled on over to the little town of Keystone. The season has not started yet and most of the town is still closed.
