At the Milmeisters we awoke to a beautiful and clear (amazing for LA!)!) morning. Milmeisters live on a hill with at least a 180 degree view of the San Fernando Valley overlooking Universal Studios. Had coffee, cereal, yogurt et. A. l while we talked about our fun night at The Bazaar and planned for our “driveway party”.
We have a traditional hike through Runyan Canyon each time we visit the Milmeisters. Took Pepper for a long down/up hill hike with nice vistas of The Hollywood sign and central LA.. Off to the market to finish our shopping for the party.
I had a chance to work out on the recumbent bike in their gym which is really the first aerobic exercise in the week aside from walking the dog. I hope we have more opportunities to ride our bikes
Our LA friends are primarily” foodies” with good wine cellars. Each was asked to bring a wine and an appetizer side dish so we knew we would have a feast. Bob and I prepared hamburgers with all of the trimmings and our favorite potatoes fontecchio (small roasted reds with lots of garlic, mint and olive oil.) Ed and Elyn M. made BBQ chipotle oysters and baked ciabatta bread with shrimp, tarragon, and arugala. In addition we had Seattle smoked salmon with three different sauces; endive stuffed with baked yams, bacon and chives topped with crème fraise; wild rice salad, empanadas, pasta noodles, cheeses and brownies/lemon bars to name a few sides. Was great fun that our LA caterers since 1978, John and Judy Belonis, were able to “attend”. For years they prepared every NYE dinner that most at the party attended. We had a good time reminiscing. So pleased that so many were able to attend!.
